Episode 163: “Eggy” Tofu Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 1 block of extra firm tofu
  • Sandwich bread of your choice
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kala namek (black salt)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garbanzo bean flour

Directions:

  • Freeze and thaw the tofu twice
  • Pat the tofu block dry
  • Cut the tofu into a patty-sized shape to fit the sandwich bread
  • Set aside
  • Add the water, soy sauce, turmeric, nutritional yeast flakes, kala namek, onion powder, and garbanzo bean flour to a small bowl
  • Mix well
  • Dredge the tofu patty on both sides in the sauce mixture
  • Allow the tofu to marinate for at least 1 hour
  • Fry the tofu patty until golden brown on both sides
  • Serve hot as a sandwich with bread or biscuits
