

Ingredients (filling):
- 1 large taro root
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon agar powder
Ingredients (dough):
- 1 tablespoon yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 & 1/2 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- 14 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup soy milk
- 1 egg, beaten (optional)
Directions:
- Peel taro and boil in 4 cups of water for 15-20 minutes until tender
- Take out 1/2 cup liquid to use later
- Mash taro up and put in large bowl
- Add 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/2 cup sugar
- Mix the taro water with agar powder
- Add taro water mixture
- Mix well until taro is smooth
- Set filling aside
- Mix 1/4 cup water with yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar
- Allow yeast mixture to sit 5-10 minutes until it gets foamy
- Drizzle oil into a mixing bowl
- Add flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 cup sugar
- Add yeast mixture
- Mix well
- Add soy milk (and egg)
- Mix well
- Let dough rest for 2 hours
- Shape the dough into a log
- Cut dough into 8 pieces
- Roll pieces into small balls
- Flatten each ball into a circle
- Scoop some taro and place in middle of circle
- Pinch dough together to form a ball
- Let taro buns rest for 1/2 hour
- Bake buns at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes
